The 6 Telegram Metrics Worth Tracking Every Week (And the Ones You Can Ignore)

Most channel owners I talk to track exactly one number. Subscriber count. They check it in the morning, check it again before bed, and feel good or bad depending on which direction it moved.

I did the same thing for about eight months. Then I lost 400 subscribers in a week and had no idea why, because I had no other data to look at. Nothing to compare. No history. Just a number going down.

So I built a spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, six columns, updated every Sunday night. That habit changed how I run channels more than any content trick I ever learned. Below is the exact set of numbers I track, why each one matters, and what to do when one of them starts sliding.

Why Subscriber Count Lies to You

Subscriber count is a lagging indicator. It tells you what already happened, usually two or three weeks after the cause. By the time it drops, the problem has been running for a while.

Worse, it hides two opposite situations behind one number. A channel that gains 100 and loses 90 looks identical to a channel that gains 12 and loses 2. The first one is bleeding badly. The second one is healthy. Same net figure, completely different situations.

Here is what that looked like on a fitness channel I helped a friend with in early 2025:

Week	Net change	Joins	Leaves
1	+38	61	23
2	+41	96	55
3	+35	140	105
4	+9	163	154

Net change looked fine for three weeks. But look at the leaves column. Something in the content was actively pushing people out, and it got worse every week. If he had only watched the net number, he would have caught it in week 4 instead of week 2.

Metric 1: View Rate

Take the views on a post 48 hours after publishing, divide by your subscriber count, multiply by 100. That is your view rate.

This is the single most useful number on Telegram, and Telegram gives it to you for free. It answers the only question that matters: are the people who subscribed actually still opening your channel?

Rough bands from channels I have data on:

• Above 45 percent — strong. Your audience treats you as a must-read.
• 25 to 45 percent — normal and healthy for most niches.
• 15 to 25 percent — soft. Usually a posting frequency or relevance problem.
• Under 15 percent — either you posted too often, or a chunk of your subscriber base was never real.

Track it weekly as an average across all posts, not per post. Single posts are noisy. Weekly averages tell the truth.

Metric 2: Forwards Per 100 Views

Forwards are Telegram’s version of a share, and they are the closest thing the platform has to organic distribution. A forward means someone put your content in front of their own contacts. That is a real endorsement.

Count forwards on your top three posts of the week, divide by views, normalise to 100. Anything above 2 per 100 views is genuinely good. Under 0.5 means your content is being consumed but not passed along, which usually means it is useful but not surprising.

Practical note: forwardable content almost always falls into one of four buckets — a number people did not know, a strong opinion, a shortcut, or something funny. If your forward rate is flat, look at which bucket you never write in.

Metric 3: Time to First 200 Views

This one nobody tracks and everybody should. How long after you hit publish does the post reach 200 views?

On a healthy channel it is under 30 minutes. When that window stretches to two or three hours, something changed. Either you shifted your posting time away from when your audience is awake, or the core group of people who used to open every post has drifted.

I noticed this on a language-learning channel. Time to 200 went from 22 minutes to 95 minutes over five weeks. Subscriber count was still climbing. The problem turned out to be dead simple: the owner had moved posting from 8am to 2pm, and half the audience read Telegram on their commute.

Metric 4: Reaction Spread

Not total reactions. The spread. How many different reaction types show up, and how lopsided is the distribution?

A post with 80 reactions all being the same thumbs-up is weaker than a post with 40 reactions split across five different emoji. Variety means people are actually choosing a response rather than tapping the default. Telegram appears to weight varied engagement more heavily when deciding what to surface in recommendations.

Reactions also carry a social function that is easy to underestimate. New visitors read them as a signal. A post with visible early reaction activity gets treated as worth reading; a post sitting at zero gets scrolled past even when the writing is better. This is exactly why so many channel owners give their first few posts a small early nudge through a telegram smm panel before organic traffic arrives. It does not create an audience, but it removes the empty-room effect that stops one from forming.

Metric 5: Bot Start Completion Rate

If you run a bot alongside your channel, this is your highest-value number and probably your worst-performing one.

Take the number of people who pressed start, then count how many finished whatever the bot was built to do. Booked the slot, claimed the code, completed the quiz. Divide. That percentage is your completion rate.

Every bot I have audited started somewhere between 20 and 35 percent. Every one of them got to 60 or better with the same three fixes:

1. Cut the number of steps in half. Most bots ask for information the owner never uses.
2. Say what happens next in the first message. People abandon flows they cannot see the end of.
3. Remove free-text inputs. Buttons convert roughly twice as well as typing.

Do the flow fixes before you drive any traffic to the bot. Sending 500 people into a broken funnel just gives you 500 people who now associate your brand with a dead end.

Metric 6: Returning Reader Ratio

Telegram does not hand you this directly, so it takes a small workaround. Once a month, post something that requires a click — a poll, a link, a bot command — and compare participation against the same post type from the previous month.

What you are looking for is whether the same core group keeps showing up. If participation stays flat while subscribers grow, your new subscribers are not converting into readers. That is the most common failure mode on channels that grow fast and then stall.

The Numbers You Can Safely Ignore

To be about it, some metrics eat time and give nothing back:

• Total lifetime views. Vanity. Grows no matter what you do.
• Follower count of channels that mention you. A 200k channel with a dead audience sends fewer readers than a 4k channel with an engaged one.
• Post length. There is no optimal word count. There is only whether the post earns the reader’s next 30 seconds.
• Best posting time articles. Your audience has its own rhythm. Test four for two weeks and read your own time-to-200 data.

How to Build the Habit in 15 Minutes a Week

Six columns in a spreadsheet, one row per week. Sunday evening, open Telegram’s built-in stats, fill in the row, close the sheet. That is the entire process.

The value is not in any single row. It is in having twelve rows so you can see slope instead of position. A view rate of 28 percent means nothing on its own. A view rate that went 41, 37, 33, 28 over four weeks means you have a problem, and you now know roughly when it started.

One warning about the data itself. If you have ever used a provider that delivered accounts which drop off later, your metrics will look strange for weeks and you will chase problems that do not exist. Cheap does not have to mean unreliable — this is exactly why service quality matters, and why brands like ALLSMM Panel compete on delivery speed and order support rather than headline price alone. Clean, fast-delivered orders keep your baseline readable. Sloppy ones corrupt every number in your sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I actually check these numbers?

Weekly. Daily checking makes you react to noise, and Telegram’s view counts are still filling in for at least 48 hours after publishing. Monthly is too slow to catch a slide before it costs you.

Which metric should I fix first if several look bad?

View rate, always. Every other number downstream depends on people opening your posts. Fixing forwards while your view rate is at 14 percent is polishing a room nobody walks into.

Does the fastest smm panel telegram delivery actually change my analytics?

It changes early-window numbers, which is the point. Delivery inside the first hour lands while a post is still gathering organic traffic, so it lifts the signals Telegram reads when deciding distribution. Delivery that trickles in three days later arrives after the decision has already been made and shows up in your sheet as a confusing bump.

My view rate dropped after I gained subscribers. Is that bad?

Mathematically it is expected — the denominator grew. Check the absolute view count too. If views held steady while the rate fell, you are fine. If both fell, the new subscribers pushed something out of alignment.

Should I track competitor channels?

Lightly. Look at their forward rates and posting rhythm, ignore their subscriber counts. Rhythm is copyable, audience size is not.

What is the minimum data I need before the sheet is useful?

Four weeks. Three rows tell you almost nothing. By week six you will start noticing patterns you would never have felt otherwise, and by week twelve you will be able to predict a bad week before it happens.

The Part Nobody Wants to Hear

Tracking does not grow a channel. Posting does. The sheet exists so that when growth stalls, you have evidence instead of guesses.

Start it this Sunday. Six numbers, fifteen minutes. In three months you will have something almost nobody running a Telegram channel has: a record of what actually worked, in your niche, with your audience, in your own handwriting.
