Weld Neck Flange Class 150 and 300 Dimensions | Torque Tube for Solar Tracker – A Complete Guide

As industrial applications become more specialized, the importance of selecting the right components for high-performance systems continues to grow. At TUSPIPE, we understand the critical role that weld neck flanges and torque tubes for solar trackers play in achieving durability, reliability, and long-term efficiency in different industries. Whether you’re working in the oil & gas sector, renewable energy, or structural steel fabrication, having accurate information on product specifications is essential.

In this article, we’ll take an in-depth look at Weld Neck Flange Class 150 and 300 dimensions and the application of torque tubes for solar trackers, both of which are integral parts of industrial piping and clean energy systems.

What Is a Weld Neck Flange?

A weld neck flange is a type of flange that is typically used in high-pressure and high-temperature piping systems. It features a long tapered hub that provides excellent stress distribution, making it highly suitable for applications where bending stress is a concern.

Why Weld Neck Flanges Are Preferred:

• High strength and leak resistance
• Suitable for extreme pressure and temperature environments
• Smooth bore connection ensures reduced turbulence
• Ideal for critical industries such as petrochemical, chemical, and power generation

Weld Neck Flange Class 150 and 300 – Key Differences

Flanges are categorized by their pressure-temperature ratings, commonly referred to as pressure classes. Among them, Class 150 and Class 300 are widely used.

Class 150 Weld Neck Flange

• Pressure Rating: Up to 285 psi at 100°F (19.6 bar at 38°C)
• Material Compatibility: Carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel
• Common Applications: General-purpose industrial piping, water systems, low-pressure pipelines

Class 300 Weld Neck Flange

• Pressure Rating: Up to 740 psi at 100°F (51 bar at 38°C)
• Ideal For: High-pressure steam lines, oil refineries, chemical processing

Comparison Table – Class 150 vs Class 300 Dimensions

Size (NPS)	Class 150 OD (mm)	Class 300 OD (mm)	Thickness (mm)	Bolt Holes
1”	89	95	11.2 (150) / 14.3 (300)	4
2”	152	165	14.3 / 20.7	4 / 8
4”	229	254	22.3 / 28.5	8
6”	279	318	25.4 / 33.4	8 / 12

Note: All measurements are approximate and may vary slightly based on ASME B16.5 standards and flange material.

At TUSPIPE, we manufacture and supply Weld Neck Flanges in Class 150 and Class 300 with precise machining and superior surface finishes, ensuring durability and tight sealing performance.

Dimensions Matter – Why Accurate Flange Sizing Is Crucial

Improper flange dimensions can lead to leaks, increased downtime, or even system failure. That’s why it’s important to choose a reliable supplier like TUSPIPE, where every flange is produced under strict quality control and adheres to international standards like ASME, ASTM, and DIN.

Factors to Consider:

• Nominal Pipe Size (NPS)
• Pressure rating (Class 150, Class 300, etc.)
• Bolt circle diameter
• Gasket compatibility
• Surface finish

Torque Tube for Solar Tracker – The Backbone of Solar Structures

In the renewable energy sector, especially utility-scale solar power plants, torque tubes play a vital role in solar tracking systems. A torque tube for solar tracker is a structural and functional element that connects solar panels in a row and rotates them to follow the sun’s path throughout the day, improving overall solar energy capture.

How It Works

The torque tube transmits rotational force generated by an actuator or motor across multiple rows of solar panels. This rotation allows the panels to tilt in unison, maximizing sunlight absorption and boosting electricity generation by up to 25-30% compared to fixed-tilt systems.

Features of TUSPIPE Torque Tubes for Solar Trackers

At TUSPIPE, our torque tubes are engineered for strength, precision, and ease of installation in harsh outdoor environments. Here’s what sets our torque tubes apart:
