Life on the Road with The Silver Wanderers

Being a tour bus driver for The Silver Wanderers has given me the chance to experience Europe in a truly special way. While the landscapes are unforgettable, it’s the people and the moments we share along the road that make each journey meaningful. Traveling with curious, open-hearted men and women from all over the world turns every trip into a shared adventure rather than just a route on a map.

Some of my favorite stops are the quieter, more soulful places. Gmunden, with its peaceful setting on Lake Traunsee, always leaves travelers smiling. Watching guests unwind by the water, enjoy the fresh alpine air, and take in the reflections of the mountains reminds me why slow travel matters. Lienz, nestled in East Tyrol, offers that perfect blend of mountain scenery and small-town charm, where a simple walk through town feels refreshing and grounding.

One unforgettable highlight is our barbecue experience by Lake Garda. As the sun begins to set over the water, everyone gathers to share food, laughter, and stories from the road. It’s moments like these—good food, beautiful surroundings, and genuine connection—that define what traveling with The Silver Wanderers is all about.

The driving itself is relaxed, usually around 250 kilometers per day, leaving plenty of time to rest and truly enjoy each destination. The pace is slow and laid-back, allowing travelers to absorb the culture, scenery, and atmosphere without feeling rushed. For me, this isn’t just a driving job—it’s being part of a journey where every mile brings people closer together.
